HERBERT BAGLIONE.

I first came across Sao Paulo-based Herbert Baglione’s work about 7 years ago. I remember opening an issue of Juxtapoz magazine and his work instantly attracted me. I think I let out a Holy Fuck!

“God, a church, a gang – they serve us as a compass, and in many cases we use them as an excuse for our weaknesses.” -Herbert Baglione

“Nothing in this world is so solid it can’t turn to dust.” -Herbert Baglione

Herbert Baglione was born in 1977 in Sao Paulo, Brasil. He started his artistic career in the streets of Sao Paulo in the early 1990’s. This distinctive Brazilan artist has won acclaim internationally and is truly one of the greats.

Baglione’s alien, figurative, erotic, weirdly jointed figures and shapes drew me into his world of beautiful gimp looking, ghostly, shadowy strangers and after seven years of being a fan I still get weirdly excited whilst viewing his work. -Damien Matter.
